It's amazing what parents would do for their children including sitting for Sijil Pelajaran Malaysia examinations to clinch VIP tickets to Australian rock band, 5 Seconds of Summer concert in Kuala Lumpur.

Here's what happened: Several parents were put to the test by their teenage kids by signing them up for the INTI SPM Quiz to win exclusive tickets worth over RM700 each to the concert.

Organised by INTI International University & Colleges, the session saw over 150 parents and their teenage children registered themselves to participate in the quiz held at the university's campus in Subang.

According to INTI in a statement Tuesday, the one-hour long quiz covered eight SPM subject areas from English to Chemistry with 30 multiple choice questions.

Parents were also given an open-ended question that required them to write a compelling reason as to why their children deserved to watch the guys from '5 Seconds of Summer' at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, tomorrow.

It was a sight to behold as teenagers aged between 14 and 18 years waited anxiously outside the venue for their parents to complete the examination while the parents sat at their tables answering questions which replicated the actual SPM.

Prior to taking the exams, the teens along with their parents were given the chance to go through SPM questions together in preparation for the 'real' examinations.

“We wanted to get as creative as possible in giving away these concert tickets. We figured having parents sit for an exam on their child’s behalf to win these tickets would be a fun and engaging activity for the entire family.

"It was very interesting to see how children reacted to their parents sitting for the SPM quiz and the best moment was seeing the 10 winning parents present the tickets to their overjoyed teenage children,” said INTI Senior Vice President for Marketing, Products and Partnerships, Timothy Johnson.

Second runner-up, Shahir Zaid Zainal Abidin, 50 was ecstatic to win the sound-check and pit tickets for his 18-year-old daughter, Nuraishah Sabrina.

Nuraishah was almost in tears when the results were announced and touched by her father’s efforts to win the competition for her.

“One of the pleasures of parenthood is being able to see your child happy. I feel winning the tickets for her is great because she’s been a fan of 5 Seconds of Summer since 2012,” said Zaid, who enjoyed the bonding experience with his daughter through the competition.

Winner, Dzakihilmy Mohd Ghazali, 45 and his son, Muhammad Danish took home the grand prize. They won a pair of meet-and-greet, sound check and pit tickets to the concert.

An elated Dzakihilmy said he did not expect to win, yet the experience sitting for the examinations was a reminiscent of the good old days when he had to sit for exams.
