Five more Indian nationals are due to be charged in a Singapore court Thursday afternoon with rioting in the republic’s Little India last Sunday night.

Singapore police said the five, aged between 24 and 45, were the latest to be arrested over the incident, according to media reports.

They will be charged with rioting under Section 147 of the Penal Code.

So far, 27 Indian nationals have been charged in court for the offence.

The rioting began on Sunday night when a 33-year-old Indian construction worker was struck and killed by a private bus in the Little India district.

The 55-year-old Singaporean bus driver who allegedly knocked down and killed Sakthivel Kumaravelu, has been released on bail after being charged on Tuesday with causing death by a negligent act.
