Homegrown animation studio Les' Copaque Production's YouTube channel has been awarded the Diamond Play Button by the US-based online video-sharing platform after reaching 10 million subscribers.

The award is given by YouTube when a verified channel reaches a specific milestone and is deemed eligible for a YouTube Creator Reward.

There are currently five tiers of YouTube Play Buttons or YouTube Creator Awards, as they are called, which are based on a channel's subscriber count but offered at the sole discretion of YouTube, namely Silver, for channels that reach or surpass 100,000 subscribers; Gold (one million and above); Diamond (10 million and above); Custom (50 million and above); and Red Diamond (100 million and above).

The animation studio, in a statement today, said the record 10 million subscribers was reached at 2.06 pm yesterday (June 11), and described being the first YouTube channel in Malaysia to reach the figure as a truly remarkable and proud achievement.

As of February 2020, only 566 YouTube channels globally had reached the 10 million subscriber milestone.

Les' Copaque Production's YouTube channel was established in 2009 and to date, has had more than 4.0 billion views.

Les' Copaque Production subsequently created a video on an apology from Fizi, which garnered more than 19 million views in just one week.
