TELUK INTAN:Veteran singer Datuk Muhammad Daud Kilau today expressed his gratitude for being alive after he was admitted to the Teluk Intan Hospital yesterday following breathing difficulties due to pulmonary oedema.

“Yesterday, I was short of breath. I thought I couldn’t make it but Alhamdulillah, God still loves me,” he told reporters at the hospital here.

Fondly known as M Daud Kilau, the singer of Malay hit song ‘Cek Mek Molek’ said the doctor informed him that his heart was still unstable and required oxygen machine to support his breathing.

The 82-year-old ‘Raja Gelek’, who was popular for his colourful sequined outfits, hoped that his fans would pray for his health.

“To my friends, celebrity friends and fans throughout the country, I humbly apologise for any mistakes I may have made,” said the singer, who has been experiencing health problems in the last four years.

M Daud Kilau said he would be staying in hospital for another few days for further treatment and monitoring.

Meanwhile, his wife Datin Rohani Awang Ngah, 62, urged fans to pray for her husband’s speedy recovery.
“This morning he looked slightly better. He could drink coffee and eat some cakes. I hope he recovers soon,” she said.

M Daud Kilau has diabetes and is suffering from various other health problems.
