Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak today launched the 1Malaysia Veterans Recognition Programme (1MVRP) which outlines seven initiatives to look after the welfare and socio-economic condition of Malaysian Armed Forces (MAF) veterans.

The seven initiatives are the Work Location Programme for Veterans; Entrepreneur Guidance Programme for Veterans; Programme for the Enhancement of Acceptance of Training for Armed Forces Veteran Affairs Corporation (Perhebat) by the industry; 1Malaysia Privilege Card; 1Malaysia Veterans One-Stop-Centre;
1Malaysia Veterans Family Development Programme; and Repairing and Building Homes for 1Malaysia Veterans Programme.

Najib said the 1MVRP was another 1Malaysia product implemented under the National Blue Ocean Strategy.
He said the programme would benefit all armed forces veterans including
243,500 former soldiers who were without pension.
"It can be considered as another 1Malaysia product aimed at enabling every
group regardless of their background, place of origin or community received
benefits from the government," he said at the launching of the programme, here.

Commenting further on the initiative, Najib said that under the Work
Location Programme for Veterans, government-linked corporations and private
companies could offer work opportunities to ATM veterans who were keen to work.
He said a total of 4,300 job vacancies were expected to be offered by the
companies concerned to ATM veterans.
He said that for those who were interested to become entrepreneurs, relevant
training would also be provided for them.
"The government allocated RM3.5 million under the programme for disbursement
to veterans who are interested and the fund will be managed by Perhebat and
regulated by Tekun Nasional," he said.
He said the government would also expand the 1Malaysia Privilege Card given
to members of the armed forces previously to ATM veterans.

"As a government that cares, the government has decided that this privilege
should also be extended to all ATM veterans," he said.
In order to ensure that the ATM veterans had access to all information and
assistance needed by them, the government would create the 1Malaysia Veterans
One-Stop-Centre.
Najib said selected military camps would be turned into one-stop-centres for
them to make reference and enquiry.
In addition, he said the 1Malaysia Veterans' Family Development Programme
was created for the socio-economic development of the ATM veterans' family so
that they could gernerate better and more stabe income.
He said the programme would be implemented with the cooperation of the
Ministry of Women, Family and Community Development under the 1Azam programme.
