DAP national publicity secretary Tony Pua today gave his statement to the Malaysia Communications and Multimedia Commission (MCMC) over his recent Facebook post on 1Malaysia Development Berhad (1MDB).

The commission had earlier summoned the Batu MP over his post linking Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak to the civil suit filed the United States Department of Justice (DOJ) last month.

Pua arrived at the commission’s headquarters around 4pm with DAP head of legal bureau, Gobind Singh Deo.

The procedure ended an hour later.

The statement following five complaints received by MCMC regarding Pua’s statements on his Facebook page posted on July 21, 2016.

Pua, however, defended his statements, claiming that they were taken from the DOJ’s civil complaint against 1MDB and vowed to ‘not stop issuing such statements’ even though he might be summoned by MCMC again.

"I will not stop issuing statements like this. I will continue my work as a Member of Parliament to ask the government to be accountable for the scandal," he told reporters at the commission’s headquarters.

He also said he would not remove his Facebook post as there was no reason for him to do so.

The investigation is being conducted under Section 233 of the Communications and Multimedia Act for ‘improper use of network facilities or network service’.
