Three Malaysian beaches have made it to top 50 of the World’s 100 best beaches list.

The three are Tanjung Rhu in Langkawi, Kedah, Juara Beach in Tioman Island, Pahang and Perhentian Kecil Island, Terengganu.

The list, compiled by international news network CNN, was crafted from various sources such as feedback from travellers, colleagues and readers, as well as on site visits and research.

Perhentian Kecil Island was the 13th on the list, while Juara Beach and Tanjung Rhu were the 21st and 49th on the list, respectively.

The CNN report said once people experience the Perhentian Kecil Island, nothing else quite matches up to it and that the Islands are to beach bums what Kobe beef is to carnivores.

It also said that the highlight of the Island is the blue waters, which invariably contains turtles and sharks.

The Juara beach was described as less developed and less polished than Thailand, but brings an all natural, quiet vibe to the beach experience.

Meanwhile, the report said Tanjung Rhu has an earthy beauty and serene atmosphere.
