Forty-five schools in three districts in Kelantan were closed today as the floods have not abated.

The State Education Department in a statement said that 38 schools were closed in the Pasir Mas district, six in Tumpat district and one in Pasir Puteh district.

The affected schools in Pasir Mas are Sekolah Kebangsaan (SK) Kampung Baru, SK Rahmat, SK Gual Tokdeh, SK Rantau Panjang, SK Lubok Stol, SK Sri Rantau Panjang 2, SK Kok Pauh, SK Sri Rantau Panjang 1, Sekolah Agama Bantuan Kerajaan (SABK) Al Falah Siram, SABK Diniah Bongor, Sekolah Jenis Kebangsaan Cina (SJKC) Khay Boon, Sekolah Menengah Kebangsaan (SMK) Rantau Panjang, SMK Tiang Chandi, SK Gual Tinggi.

SK Kedai Tanjong, SK Bakong, SK Gual Sitok, SK Gual Periok, SK Batu Jarum, SK Barol Pial, SK Kubang Kuau, SMK Barol Pial, SK Tok Sangkut, SABK Al-Balaghul Mubin, SK Gual Periok, SK Gelang Mas, SK Kepas, SMK Perempuan, SK Banggol Petai, SK Tanjung Chenak, SK Bukit Perah, SK Sri Kiambang, SK Mekasar, SMK To' Uban, SK Kubang Chenok, SK Meranti, SMK Sultan Ibrahim and SMK Meranti.

The six affected schools in Tumpat are SABK Nurul Huda Kajang Sebidang, SK Simpangan, SK Bendang Pa' Yong, SK Pulau Beluru, SK Telok Jering and SK Padang Mandol, while the affected school in Pasir Puteh is SK Gong Manak.

The closure is due to these schools or their access roads being inundated by flood waters, hence posing a danger to the students and teachers. - Bernama
