The Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Ahmad Shabery Cheek said the Seputeh member of Parliament Teresa Kok's participation in a video entitled 'Onederful Malaysia', which went viral on social media, has created much unwanted chaos.

He said Kok had provoked the public’s anger with her 'kiasu' attitude and has put down the country's image by alleging that everything done by the government was wrong.

"She has bad taste, so is this a good example from a DAP leader? When we insult the country and point out other's weaknesses it will only encourage others to do the same," he told Bernama in a press conference in Cyberjaya, Tuesday.

Meanwhile, UMNO Youth division chief, Muhammad Rafii in a statement called for action to be taken against Kok under the Sedition Act 1948 as he claimed that her actions clearly incite hatred towards the government.

“This has never happened in the history of our country, where a Chinese New Year video is portrayed in such a manner, especially from a Chinese MP,” he said.

He also stressed that Kok must be taught a lesson for her rude actions that has planted the seeds of hatred in a multi-racial society.

Selangor Wanita Umno too has called on the authorities to take stern action against Kok over her video clip.

Its chief Datuk Nor Hayati Onn said it was an irresponsible act on the part of the MP to come up with such a video clip, more so when the Chinese community were celebrating their new year.

"In this festive atmosphere, Kok should be sensitive about what she is doing. Although it is just a CNY video clip, why should it have provocative elements, including what happened in Lahad Datu," she said in statement here.

She added that a stern action would serve as a deterrent to others not to publish insensitive materials.

Kok when contacted by Astro AWANI, she said “It was just a satirical video. We just want to have some fun for CNY. Every year I post a satirical video that's interesting and fun.”
