Transport Minister Datuk Seri Liow Tiong Lai has reassured that all local airports were safe.

Liow said the public need not worry about the security aspects in the airports including at the KL International Airport 2 (klia2) which was the location for the murder of North Korean Kim Jong-nam on Feb 13.

"Our airports are safe, and security checks did not find any toxic substances there. We want to tell the public, don't worry, there's no concern. We will continue to strengthen our security from time to time," he said, describing the incident involving Jong-nam as an isolated case.

Liow, who is MCA President, was speaking to reporters after launching the Tun Tan Cheng Lock Centre for Social and Policy Studies at Universiti Tunku Abdul Rahman (UTAR), here Tuesday.

Also present were UTAR Chancellor Tun Dr Ling Liong Sik and Deputy Minister of Women, Family and Community Development Datin Paduka Chew Mei Fun. -- Bernama
