KUALA LUMPUR:Disappointed with the baseless accusations levelled against him, a member of the Board of Directors (BOD) of the Malaysian National Film Development Corporation (Finas), Datuk Seri Eizlan Yusof will take legal action against actor and producer, Datuk Hans Isaac.

According to Eizlan, the allegation made by the former Finas chairman that he abused his power over the BOD position in relation to the receipt of the Digital Content Funds (DCF) grant to the production company Excellent Pictures Sdn Bhd, was incorrect.

The baseless allegation, Eizlan asserted, had tarnished his reputation as the BOD of the film industry oversight and development body.

This is because, Eizlan stressed, he has no connection or interest in the production company.

"I do not know what his motive was for making such baseless allegations. I only do work at Finas. I have no interest in the associated company.

"I do not disturb other people's lives, so I wonder why he (Hans) can issue such a statement.

"Because the accusation made also caused me to receive pressure asking me to resign or else my name will be referred to the authorities so that an investigation is made against me," Eizlan told Astro AWANI when contacted.

Hans has been accused of accusing Eizlan of having an interest in Excellent Pictures Sdn Bhd, causing the production company to receive a DCF grant issued by Finas.

Eizlan said the allegation was made in the WhatsApp group of the Malaysian Film Producers Association (PFM) which has more than 200 members.

As such, Eizlan has appointed a lawyer from the firm of Messrs. Shaharudinali Azfarazmi & Co to initiate the legal process.

He said legal action against Hans was underway.

Meanwhile, Hans who was contacted by Astro AWANI said his party will issue a statement regarding Eizlan's allegations this afternoon.
