Selangor's Select Committee on Competency, Accountability and Transparency (SELCAT) will be conducting a public hearing with Azmin Ali and Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to look into issues involving the Selangor State Development Corporation (PKNS).

The hearing is expected to be conducted on March 25 and 26, announced SELCAT speaker Hannah Yeoh on Thursday.

Both Azmin, a former PKNS board member, and Khalid would be called up to testify before the panel.

"We will look into Azmin's position on the board and also discuss the 22 PKNS Holdings Berhad staff whose contracts have been terminated," she said.

She said that the committee will need about a month to gather the necessary evidence and documents before the hearing.

Azmin was asked to leave as a director of PKNS before his term expired due to a decision made by the Selangor State Executive Council which did not include Azmin as a director on the board.

Khalid denied that EXCO fired Azmin and blamed the PKNS general manager’s interpretation of EXCO’s decision as a dismissal of Azmin.

PKNS Holding then fired 22 contract employees after the parent company did not want to continue their service.

Khalid explains that the move saved the company RM6 million a year as the contract employees work overlapped with the work their own employees produced and they were paid more.

Azmin said that this move allegedly is a personal attack on him as many of those contract workers were associated with him.
