KUALA LUMPUR: Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) Communications and Media Committee chairman Christopher Raj has been appointed media manager of the 2023 Under-17 (U-17) World Cup scheduled to take place in Indonesia from Nov 10 to Dec 2.

Christopher becomes the second Malaysian to serve in the World Cup finals following Asian Football Confederation (AFC) secretary-general Datuk Seri Windsour Paul's involvement in the 2006 World Cup in Germany.

Christopher said that his duties include ensuring media operations run smoothly from Nov 5 till the final on Dec 2 at Manahan Stadium, Solo, one of four venues for the World Cup.

A total of 14 matches will be held at the stadium, while other matches will be hosted at the three other venues, Gelora Bung Tomo Stadium in Surabaya, Jakarta International Stadium and Si Jalak Harupat di Bandung Stadium.

Christopher, an AFC media committee member, has previously served in other international championships, including the 2018 World Cup in Russia, the 2022 World Cup in Qatar, the 2017 U-17 World Cup in India and the 2019 CONCACAF Gold Cup in the United States.
