Police today did not rule out the possibility that there are other individuals involved in the kidnapping of a British child, Freddie Joseph, in Bangsar here on Nov 8.

Kuala Lumpur police chief Datuk Mohmad Salleh said they had questioned the former maid who had worked with the child's family, and her boyfriend who were arrested on Nov 10 but there was no positive result.

"So we suspect there are others involved. Hopefully, information about the kidnapping can be obtained by recording conversations with the victim's mother," he told reporters after attending the monthly police gathering at the Kuala Lumpur Police headquarters Wednesday.

Twenty-month-old Freddie was snatched from his mother while she was feeding him at their home in Bangsar. A man grabbed the child, ran out and handed him to a woman before they drove off in a car.

The child was found in Taman Tasik Titiwangsa here, 18 hours after being kidnapped.

In another case, Mohmad said they were in the middle of updating all the evidence in the gold shop robbery in Festival City Setapak, here, on Oct 31 to bring robbery charges against the suspects.

In the 9am incident, the suspect a security guard in a shopping mall brandished his gun at four employees at the premises before fleeing with a tray containing about 100 chains.

In his speech at the monthly police gathering, Mohmad said crime in the capital had decreased by 1,041 cases or five percent for the period of January to November following the Ops Cantas.
