Police today confirmed that there were old scars found on the body of William Yau Zhen Zhong but added they did not lead to the death of the six-year-old boy.
Subang Jaya district police chief ACP Yahaya Ramli said this in reponse to queries by the media on several claims that William's father had abused the boy.
While he confirmed that they were two relatives who came forward unofficially to make such claims, he said there were no reports made so far to that effect.
The claims of abuse is just one of the many angles that police are looking at since preliminary results of a DNA test last night confirmed the body was indeed William.
With his identity confirmed, police are now closing the missing persons case and looking at the death itself.
They are revisiting the case by re-interviewing witnesses such as William's parents Yau Kok Kang, 32 and Goh Ying Ying, 26, and even their seven-year-old son, Eric.
The Yaus had claimed their son's body the Klang Hospital on Monday morning. The funeral and cremation will be held on the same day in Malacca.
"We will take into account all aspects. We will leave no stones unturned, " said Yahaya in a press conference this morning.
He said that police are also looking at the posibility that William was washed to Kampung Sungai Sireh jetty in Klang about 30km away from an uncovered monsoon drain located some 150m away from where he disappeared.
"The hoapital is still unable to ascertain the cause of death as the condition of the body had deteriorated too much" he said.
On news reports that William's father had gave conflicting accounts to police, and of a claim that William was brought to a 'bomoh', Yahaya simply replied:" We will have to revisit all that."
He said they will be retracing individuals who may have come in contact with William, including an Indonesian man William's father met minutes before the boy went missing.
William went missing on Jan 16 in Putra Heights, Subang Jaya. His parents had left him alone in a car with his siblings and returned to find him missing.
The elder brother had said that William left the car to search for their parents as their baby sister Cindy was cyring in the car.
His body was found on Thursday night at Sungai Sireh in Klang.
William's disappearance and subsequent death garnered massive public sympathy, with many offering help and suport to the family.
However, the story took a turn when it was reported that some family members claimed that William had been beaten in the past.
Yau had denied such claims which are circulating on social media, adding he was "deeply insulted and was considering legal action".
