The total number of new COVID-19 cases in the country, in the last 24 hours remains in two digits, but it rises to 52, including 36 cases in Sabah.
Health director-general Tan Sri Dr Noor Hisham Abdullah said the latest development brings the cumulative total number of cases in Malaysia to 10,219, with the death toll staying at 130, while active cases with infectivity totalled 734.
"The new cases involved 40 local transmissions and 12 imported cases," he said in a statement on COVID-19 updates today.
For local transmission, Dr Noor Hisham said it involved 26 Malaysians and 14 foreigners, while the imported cases involved three Malaysians and nine foreigners.
"Cases in Sabah involve 27 from the Benteng LD Cluster, comprising 15 Malaysians and 12 foreigners and two cases from the Selamat Cluster involving two Malaysians.
"Another two cases were from health personnel screening at Lahad Datu Hospital, involving Malaysians, and there was one case each from the Pulau Cluster, the Bakau Cluster and the Semporna community screening, all involving locals," he said.
He said other cases in Sabah involving foreigners was one from pre-surgery screening case at Lahad Datu Hospital and one employment screening case.
Dr Noor Hisham said there were three community screening cases at the administrative Enhanced Movement Control Order (EMCO) Kota Setar, Kedah and one in Penang, all involving Malaysians.
He said there were 12 imported cases involving three Malaysians and nine foreigners who had returned from India. The cases were reported in Kuala Lumpur (3), Selangor (3) and Labuan (2).
Other imported cases were from Bangladesh (1), Yemen (1) and Russia (1), all reported in Kuala Lumpur, and another one from Indonesia which was reported in Selangor.
Meanwhile, 40 COVID-19 patients recovered today, raising the cumulative figure for recoveries to 9,355 cases or 91.6 per cent of the total number of cases.
Dr Noor Hisham said to date 10 cases are being treated in the intensive care unit, with two requiring ventilator support.
