Sabah Customs seized Methamphetamine or syabu weighing 2.608 kilogrammes (kg) and ketamin weighing 12.26kg worth about RM1 million at the Sandakan Airport on Wednesday.

Sabah Customs Department director Datuk Janathan Kandok said, a 26-year-old man was also detained to help in investigations.

He said, the drugs were found in the baggage of a male passenger at the Sandakan Airport at 12.32pm.

Janathan said, the male suspect who was investigated under Section 39 (b) of the Dangerous Drugs Act, was remanded for seven days and would be charged in court as soon as investigations were completed.

He said, the Kota Kinabalu, Tawau and Sandakan Airports were currently among destinations for drug distribution from abroad.

He said in 2011, Sabah Customs succeeded in seizing 21.11kg of ketamin and syabu, estimated to be worth RM1.5 million while 5.52kg of syabu worth RM1.4 million was seized last year.
