The police have detained two men in connection with 10 armed robberies, burglaries and vehicle thefts in Seberang Perai Tengah (SPT) district since early this year.

The suspects aged 24 and 29 were picked up following a raid at a house here last night.

SPT district police chief, ACP Nik Ros Azhan Nik Abdul Hamid said a police team seized stolen electrical goods, jewellery, watches, three cell phones and pawnshop receipts, among others, believed to have been robbed from convenient stores.

A sling bag containing a machete, knife, face mask and metal-cutter were also found, he said here today.
Nik Ros Azhan said a van, which was reported missing in Alma on Tuesday, was recovered near the house. Inside the vehicle were stolen gas cooker, air-conditioner and electrical goods.

"We also seized a Yamaha 135 LC motorcycle which was believed stolen and numerous components which had been cannibalised from stolen vehicles. Our investigations revealed they were for sale," he added.

The suspects have been remanded for four days.
