The RapidKL Monorail service will be closed an hour earlier than usual at 11 pm this Friday to accommodate works for full migration of its new signalling system.

Requiring a non-stop closure for the works, the monorail services for the following day on Saturday will commence an hour later at 7 am, instead of the usual 6 am.

RapidKL Monorail Chief Operating Officer, Abdul Hadi Amran said the closure was necessary to allow the start of a new signalling system, which was required to facilitate operations of the new four-car trains.

"Hence, come 7 am on July 12, RapidKL Monorail Line will be operating on its new signalling system that will accommodate mixed fleet operation of both two-car trains and the four-car trains, which is coming into service in the third quarter of this year," he said in a statement here, today.

Abdul Hadi said in the absence of the one-hour monorail service on Saturday night, a bus shuttle service will be provided for commuters with a token charge of RM1 per trip.

"A total of six buses will be deployed using the same three routes used in April including a direct service from KL Sentral to Titiwangsa.

Two others would be between KL Sentral and Bukit Bintang, and between Bukit Bintang and Titiwangsa, he added.

"We would like to apologise to our commuters and sincerely hope they understand why we are doing this. This is for the betterment of our monorail services in the future," said Abdul Hadi.
