"My brother had once told me and our siblings to take care of his wife, children and company after his death," said Fairuz Nizam Husain's youngest brother, Muhammad Faizznur Asyraf.

Fairuz Nizam, 35, was killed in a tragic accident involving three vehicles at KM6.2 of the Duta-Ulu Kelang Expressway (DUKE) Highway early Saturday.

His wife Nova Safitri Azhari, 25, and their seven-month-old baby girl Nur Firuza Annisa were also killed in the 1.05am incident.

Muhammad Faizznur Asyraf, 25, said the accident occurred after Fairuz Nizam sent his eldest daughter Nur Firuza Amira, seven, and second child, Nur Firuza Aqila, four, to their grandmother's house in Putrajaya.

"The family of five had also attended a wedding reception before the mishap. After sending their two daughters to their grandmother's house, the three of them went back to their home," he told Bernama after the funeral at Raudhatu Sakinah Muslim cemetery at Taman Batu Muda here on Saturday.

Initial investigation revealed the Mitsubishi Pajero the family were travelling in was hit by a Perodua MyVi from the right, causing Fairuz Nizam to lost control of the vehicle before crashing into another Perodua MyVi coming from the left.

The impact caused the Pajero to spin and overturn several times, and the three of them thrown out of the vehicle.

Meanwhile, Nova Safitri's uncle Razali Khamis, 49, urged the police to make more frequent patrols at highways to curb illegal street racing.

"I call on the police to investigate the cause of the accident and take appropriate actions," he said.
