Five people were killed when a driver was believed to have lost control of his car and rammed three motorcycles that had stopped at the emergency lane at KM 10.5 of the Federal Highway early this morning.

Those who died included a passenger of a car that had stopped to render aid to the accident victims.

The dead were identified as motorcyclists Muhammad Faridzuan Mohd Aziz, 21, Amirul Faiq Zainuddin, 22, and Syahmie Farid Izzat Samsudin Shah, 21, car driver Wilson Lee, 22, and the passenger of a car, M. Kalaychelven, 50, who had stopped to help.

Freak accident

Shah Alam district police chief, ACP Zahedi Ayob said in the incident at about 3am, the car driven by Lee heading toward Klang was believed to have lost control and crashed onto three motorcycles that had stopped at the emergency lane due to a breakdown.

The impact caused the car to overturn several times and Lee was thrown out about 50 metres from his car.

Following the crash, Lee and two motorcyclists, Mohd Faridzuan and Amirul Faiq died on the spot due to severe injuries on the head and feet.

Freak accident

"Meanwhile, another car had stopped at the emergency lane and its rear passenger, Kalaychelven got out of the car to render assistance to the victims.

However, a motorcycle ridden by Syahmie Farid Izzat suddenly came from behind and lost control before hitting Kalaychelven.

"As a result of the collision, Syahmi Farid Izzat who sustained serious head injury, and Kalaychelven, who had severe head injury and severed his left leg, died at the scene," he told a press conference, here today.

Freak accident

All the victims had been sent to Hospital Tengku Ampuan Rahimah (HTAR), Klang, for post-mortem and their remains had been claimed by relatives.

Asked on the possibility that the car driver had lost control of his vehicle due to drunkenness, Zahedi said police had taken blood samples from the victims for tests and the outcome would only be known in two weeks' time.
