JOHOR BAHRU: Johor UMNO Liaison Body chairman, Datuk Seri Hasni Mohammad, won with a majority of 1,821 votes in the Simpang Renggam parliamentary constituency in the 15th General Election (GE15).

Mohammed Hasni garnered 18,312 votes, defeating the incumbent, Dr Maszlee Malik from Pakatan Harapan (PH) who obtained 16,491 votes.

PN candidate, Fazrul Kamat, won 9,077 votes while the Parti Pejuang candidate representing the Gerakan Tanah Air (GTA) lost his deposit when he obtained only 251 votes.

Meanwhile in Pontian, UMNO Secretary-General Datuk Seri Ahmad Maslan won the parliamentary seat with a majority of 5,758 votes.

Ahmad, who has held the seat for the past three terms, garnered 23,201 votes defeating the Perikatan Nasional (PN) candidate, Datuk Isa Ab Hamid who obtained 17,443.

Pakatan Harapan (PH) candidate Shazwan Zdainal won 15,901 votes while Pejuang candidate Jamaludin Mohamad won only 306 votes.
