Razarudin, when contacted, said Muhamad Akmal was taken to the Kota Kinabalu District Police headquarters (IPD) in Sabah for questioning and recording of his statement.
In a statement earlier, the IGP said police have received two reports so far against Muhamad Akmal in connection with the recent controversy involving the sale of socks bearing the word 'Allah' at a KK Mart outlet in Selangor.
He said, once completed, the investigation paper would be submitted to the Attorney-General's Chambers for further action.
"As such, the public is advised not to play the socks issue anymore as those involved have been charged and the justice process will be done in court," he said.
Earlier, Muhamad Akmal posted on Facebook, claiming that he was being held in police custody at the Kota Kinabalu District Police headquarters (IPD) in Sabah since early this morning despite being scheduled to give his statement to the police at the Dang Wangi IPD here tomorrow.
