Former Sarawak Police Commissioner Datuk Mazlan Mansor has been appointed as Selangor Police Chief effective today, replacing Datuk Seri Abdul Samah Mat who retired after 41 years on the force.

The handing-over of duties ceremony between Abdul Samah and Mazlan took place at the Selangor Police Contingent Headquarters (IPK) here today and was witnessed by Bukit Aman Narcotic Crimes Investigation Department director Datuk Seri Mohd Mokhtar Mohd Shariff.

Speaking to reporters after the ceremony, Mazlan said he would continue carrying out all agenda and policies laid down by Abdul Samah.

"I also hope to continue his legacy of excellent leadership in Selangor Police, especially in maintaining security and public order in the state.

"As such, I call for cooperation from all senior officers and staff at the Selangor IPK, as well as all district police chiefs to continue playing their roles to ensure success of all programmes that had been planned before," he said.

Apart from that, Mazlan said he would also give emphasis to the three main agenda underlined by the Inspector-General of Police Tan Sri Khalid Abu Bakar, namely to curb and control crime rate, to improve the police service delivery system and to empower police integrity in the state.
