The Gua Musang Wanita UMNO Division delegate meeting at Bukit Chekati became heated when four delegates from the Sungai Paloh branch could not contain their emotions after having their nominations rejected.

The situation started to become a little heated when one delegate expressed her dissatisfaction over the list of 21 Wanita UMNO division committee members were rejected. They said that the action was too drastic despite them sending the form at 5.01pm on September 21.

According to Sg Paloh Wanita branch chief, Salwani Shafii they were informed about not being eligible to contest at 8pm yesterday.

“What I have heard that in Sabah, even if the forms were sent one hour late, it was still accepted. So I am unhappy with the Wanita Chief here,” said Salwani.

The Sg Paloh Wanita UMNO branch delegates are questioning the sincerity and democracy over the incident.

Reacting to the issue, Gua Musang UMNO Division Election Committee Chairman Muhammad Shukri Abdul Aziz said they had received a letter from UMNO central signed by UMNO Election Committee Head Tan Sri Tajol Rosli Ghazali about the forms being rejected.

“The state UMNO Election Committee had rejected the forms from the delegates who wanted to contest for the Gua Musang Wanita and Puteri UMNO Divisions.

“The forms were late and this was verified by the Gua Musang UMNO division Election Chairman, whereby it was agreed that the 21 people will not be eligible to contest,” said Muhammad Shukri.

After ten minutes, the situation became calm when Gua Musang Wanita Division Chief Datuk Wan Hazani Mohd Noor won uncontested explained the new UMNO constitution has set the rules for the election this year.
