KUALA LUMPUR:Media Prima Berhad (Media Prima) today confirmed that an employee of The New Straits Times Press (Malaysia) Berhad (NSTP) has been diagnosed with COVID-19 after returning from Sabah state election coverage.

Media Prima in a statement said the employee is now under the care of a government hospital.

“The affected personnel returned from editorial duties in Sabah on Sept 30 and had undertaken the mandatory COVID-19 test administered by the Ministry of Health (MOH).

“The affected personnel had since been under home-quarantine before being reported as a positive case," it said.

The group is currently working closely with the MOH and has undertaken the necessary measures and precautions to minimise the potential exposure to its other employees.

It said that the affected person had not visited any Media Prima premises since returning from Sabah.

“Media Prima will provide the necessary support to the affected personnel. We pray for a speedy recovery," the statement said.

The group stressed that Media Prima prioritises the safety of its staff, and all those who return from duties in Sabah have undergone the mandatory COVID-19 test and are currently undergoing the 14-day quarantine at home.
