Election Commission (EC) chairman Tan Sri Abdul Aziz Yusof today predicted that parliament will only be dissolved after March, when the Langkawi International Maritime & Aerospace Exhibition 2013 (LIMA) is over.

However, the EC chief said this prediction was purely his personal opinion.

Abdul Aziz said he believes that Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Razak will only advise the Yang Di-pertuan Agong to dissolve Dewan Rakyat when LIMA 2013 is over with as the exhibition has been planned two years prior.

"This is my logic... I don't think Najib, who had been defence minister before, and is often involved in LIMA, would abruptly dissolve parliament before LIMA is over," Aziz told reporters following a briefing with EC directors in the Northern zone in Langkawi.

Aziz was commenting on rumours that many foreign investors would withdraw themselves if parliament was dissolved before LIMA 2013 is over.

LIMA 2013 will be on-going for five days between March 26 and 30.

According to Aziz, Najib is well aware of the importance of foreign investment that can be generated from the international exhibition.

Previously, there were rumors of Parliament will be dissolved today.
