KUALA LUMPUR:The Dewan Negara People’s Well-being Caucus Committee has described the RM15 billion Malaysian Economic and Rakyat's Protection Assistance Package (PERMAI) announced yesterday, as proof that the government places priority on the people’s welfare, economic and public health concerns.

Chairman, Senator Datuk Razali Idris, said he was confident that PERMAI which comprises 22 initiatives, would be able to reduce the impact and burden borne by all layers of society as well as build resilience and provide economic sustainability for the country to recover.

"With the incentives, assistance, facilitations and improvements provided by PERMAI, I am confident that the approach taken by Prime Minister, Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin and the Cabinet has provided the right growth impetus towards the well-being of the people and country.

"In line with the Prime Minister’s intention, it is hoped there would be zero bureaucracy in the delivery system to ensure that distribution and assistance can be expedited," he said in a statement.

PERMAI is a realistic and dynamic package, a continuation to the previous economic stimulus packages, including the 2021 Budget, which were implemented in battling COVID-19 pandemic.

Senator Datuk Razali Idris is also of the view that in this matter, the government had done its best and urged that the people do their part in restoring their own economy as well as family, community and nation’s wellbeing.

He said this is not the time to belittle the government’s good intention because what had been announced through every economic stimulus package had benefited the people.
