Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak described the passing of political veteran, the late Tan Sri Abdullah Ahmad as a great loss to his family.

Najib said Abdullah who was a former political secretary to his father for 14 years, makes the relationship between the two families even closer.

"He was very close with my father in terms of work and personal matters. Indeed, both families became very close over the years.

"So, it is a great loss to our family. I hope that his deeds and contributions can be appreciated," he said.

Najib arrived at Abdullah’s residence at Jalan U-Thant, here around 5:15pm Sunday with his wife Datin Seri Rosmah Mansor.

The Sultan of Perak Sultan Nazrin Shah and Raja Permaisuri Perak Tuanku Zara Salim also paid their last respects to Abdullah at around 4.40pm.

Also present were former premiers Tun Dr Mahathir Mohamad, Tun Abdullah Ahmad Badawi and UMNO veteran Tengku Razaleigh Hamzah.

Abdullah also known as Dollah Kok Lanas, died of cancer after battling the disease for a year.

He will be laid to rest at the Masjid Ayesha Muslim Cemetery in Kok Lanas, Kelantan, early Monday morning.
