Muslim World League has praised the Malaysian move in absorbing the concept of 'wasatiyyah' (moderation) including in the field of education and national unity.

The league's secretary-general, Sheikh Dr Mohammed Abdul Karim Al-Issa said the efforts by Malaysia had given the picture what Islam was all about which actually promoted moderation at all levels in life.

"It gave significant returns to the reputation of Islam in terms of the economy, security, peace and so on.

"This is the way of Islam. It facilitates and provides guidance. It is of utmost importance and should be imbued in our blood," said the international non-governmental organisation leader.

He said this in his speech at the Premier Wasatiyyah Lecture Programme 2017 entitled "The Threat of Liberalism, Radicalism and Terrorism In the Islamic World" here Thursday. His speech in the Arabic language was translated into Bahasa Malaysia. -- BERNAMA
