The total compensation paid so far for the mySalam National Health Protection Scheme (mySalam) policyholders amounted to RM31.76 million.

Deputy Finance Minister I Datuk Abdul Rahim Bakri said last year, 2,748 individuals, diagnosed with one of the 45 critical illnesses, received critical illness benefits worth RM8,000 each, with the total compensation amounted to RM21.98 million.

"A total of 8,946 individuals received hospitalisation benefits worth RM3.32 million,” he said in response to a question from Khoo Poay Tiong (PH-Kota Melaka) at the Dewan Rakyat today.

mySalam is a government initiative aimed at providing free takaful health coverage to individuals in the bottom 40 per cent of the household income group (B40) aged 18 to 65 who are also recipients of the cost of living aid (BSH).

Abdul Rahim said until June this year, 518 individuals received critical illness benefits worth RM4.14 million, while 6,597 individuals received hospitalisation benefits with a total compensation of RM2.31 million.
