A security guard, believed to be under the influence of drugs, attacked two policemen with a screw-driver at a restaurant in Section 7.

Earlier, the policemen had arrived at the restaurant to investigate a fight involving the man and a restaurant worker when they were set upon by the guard who rushed out of a room which he had locked himself in.

In the 2pm incident which saw the alleged assailant detained, Corporal Reyme Anuar, 48, sustained injuries on the face and chest while Lance Corporal Syamsul Nurhisyam Yaakup, 37, was injured on the forehead and chest.

In a statement here Friday, Shah Alam police chief, ACP Shafien Mamat said the 48-year-old suspect was facilitating investigations.

He said the suspect tested positive for drugs, adding that the policemen sought out-patient treatment at the Shah Alam Hospital.

"Initial investigations revealed the security guard and the restaurant worker, a Thai national, were involved in a fight over a personal matter.
