PASIR SALAK:Several other UMNO MPs are said to be following in the footsteps of Machang Member of Parliament, Datuk Ahmad Jazlan Yaakub, who withdrew his support for the Perikatan Nasional (PN) government.

UMNO Supreme Council member, Datuk Seri Tajuddin Abdul Rahman, admitted that he had heard about the matter but there was no confirmation on the identity of the elected representatives involved.

He said Ahmad Jazlan's action was the catalyst for the change in UMNO MPs.

However, he said, the action was not the decision of the party, but the decision of the individual.

"UMNO is not involved in this matter. UMNO made a decision to be with Bersatu until the election, that is the party's position.

"If the election is in March... (we will stay with United) until March. If it’s in June, then until June.

"(I) have heard there are going to be a few more (withdrawing support for PN) but I don’t know who, just purely based on stories (that have been circulating).

“This is following what has happened… what was done by Datuk Jazlan was the ‘trigger’, he was the catalyst to change,” he said when met after a programme at Dataran Belia, Felcra Changkat Lada, here on Sunday. Earlier, Tajuddin presented assistance to 115 underprivileged students donated by a private company in collaboration with the Pasir Salak Caring Youth Squad.

On Saturday, Ahmad Jazlan in a press conference in Kota Bharu announced his withdrawal of support for the PN government.

The stand of Ahmad Jazlan, who is also the Kelantan UMNO Liaison Chairman, saw the PN government currently have the support of 110 out of 220 MPs in the Dewan Rakyat.
