Two men were killed while two others were seriously injured in a shooting at the Bukit Tambun traffic-light junction here last night.

The four, who were travelling in a pickup truck, were taken to the Seberang Jaya Hospital but two of them aged 28 and 40, who have several criminal records succumbed to their injuries, said Penang police chief Datuk Abdul Rahim Hanafi.

He said the men aged between 28 and 60 had just left the wedding of their relative at a hall, about 150 metres, away when two assailants on a motorcycle pulled up on the left side of their vehicle and shot them at about 10.30pm.

The two other men, who were critically injured, were warded at the Seberang Jaya Hospital, Abdul Rahim told reporters here today.

Their identities have yet to be ascertained.

Abdul Rahim said the police believed automatic pistols were used in the attack and four bullet casings were found at the scene.

He said investigations were underway but the police did not rule out business rivalry as the motive of the attack.

Eye-witnesses and those with information were urged to contact the nearest police station, he added.
