The Malaysian UMNO Youth movement today urged Perak DAP chairman Nga Kor Ming to tender an open apology over his alleged insult of the Aidilfitri celebration in a recent post on his Facebook page.

National UMNO Youth executive council member Syamsul Bahrin Putra Ahmad Shibi said Nga's actions were not only irresponsible, but went against the ethics of living in a multi-racial and multi-cultural country.

"Before this, there have been several statements which were deemed brash, rude, irresponsible, and provocative from him (Nga) that have hurt the feelings of Muslims and the Malays," he told reporters before handing over a note of protest agaisnt Nga at the Perak DAP office, here.

Syamsul Bahrin Putra, who is also Ipoh Barat UMNO Youth chief, handed the note to DAP Perak executive secretary, Liew Wai San.

Taiping UMNO Division Youth chief Hairul Anwar Mohamed Noor was also present.

Syamsul Bahrin Putra said Nga, who is also Taiping MP, would be deemed a person who was narrow-minded and of no integrity if he refused to apologise.

At the same time, he requested the police and the Malaysian Communications and Multimedia Commission to take appropriate action against Nga, to ensure national harmony was preserved.

Meanwhile, Hairul Anwar, who is also Perak UMNO Youth chief said he believed the provocation by Nga was done on purpose, to divert public attention from the corruption issue plaguing Penang Chief Minister, Lim Guan Eng.

"As an elected representative, he should better understand the sensitivities of the community, however, this shows otherwise. The damage has been done," he said.

On Tuesday, Nga uploaded two images which likened Hari Raya charity to bribes and 'dedak' (animal feed), in addition to wishing Selamat Hari Raya with a background depicting an American flag with hands raised in prayer in the image of beacon, a symbol of the Christian faith.
