Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR) was thrown into disarray yet again after rumours circulated that Mohamed Azmin Ali has been chosen as the new Selangor Menteri Besar.

In a Short Message Service (SMS) to Astro AWANI, however, the Bukit Antarabangsa State Assemblyman dismissed the rumours as mere speculation, saying that it has not been decided yet.

Azmin has been strongly tipped to replace Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim as the Selangor Menteri Besar and the swearing in ceremony will be held at the Istana Alam Shah in Klang tomorrow.

Apart from Azmin, two PAS assemblymen, Iskandar Abdul Samad and Dr Ahmad Yunus Hairi have also been said to be shortlisted as candidates to replace Abdul Khalid.

But Iskandar denied he had been nominated for the post.

“I have been made to understand that it’s not me.

“What I know is that another person had been nominated. It’s an open secret,” he said to Astro AWANI on Sunday.

The Selangor Palace is expected to officially announce the name of the new Selangor Menteri Besar today.

Since the news broke of Azmin been chosen to replace Abdul Khalid, PKR has insisted that the party is sticking to its president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Ismail as the sole candidate for the post.
