Communications and Multimedia Minister Datuk Seri Dr Salleh Said Keruak says Prime Minister Datuk Seri Najib Tun Razak should not be pressured or rushed into making a decision on the Kedah menteri besar issue.

He said when Najib finally made a decision, it would be an informed-decision that took into consideration all opinions and desires.

In a posting on his blog sskeruak.blogspot.my, the minister noted that since 2009, Najib, who is also UMNO president, had had to handle a number of menteri besar crises.

"And, in spite of everyone expecting the worst, even to the extent that the state might fall, in the end everything was resolved to the satisfaction of all parties, even the palace," he said.

Salleh reckoned that the menteri besar crisis in Kedah was no different, and that the choice of the chief executive office (CEO) of each state was ultimately, the prerogative of the party president.

"But, before the state CEO is appointed, the party president needs to first get feedback from the party, plus sound out the feelings of the palace in states that have menteri besar."

Salleh said Malaysians were always looking for sensation, the latest being the developments in Kedah.

"In fact, it's being called a crisis when it's actually not a real crisis of crisis proportions," he said.

Kedah Menteri Besar Datuk Seri Mukhriz Tun Dr Mahathir has come under pressure after the state UMNO leaders openly said they had lost confidence in him as menteri besar and state UMNO chief.
