It was not a good idea for Selangor Menteri Besar Tan Sri Abdul Khalid Ibrahim to join the party now, Selangor PAS commissioner Iskandar Abdul Samad opined.

He said based on the current political situation, Abdul Khalid, who was expelled from PKR, must focus his attention on solving many issues in the state.

"I think (it's) not (a) good idea (for Abdul Khalid) to join PAS at this moment. I think he also wants to get out of politics ... I feel he also wants to go for a holiday," he said in jest when asked by reporters whether Abdul Khalid had indicated an interest to join PAS.

Iskandar was approached by reporters after he had attended the Selangor Economic Action Council meeting at the State Secretariat building here.

Abdul Khalid was sacked from PKR after he refused to step down as the menteri besar to pave the way for PKR president Datuk Seri Dr Wan Azizah Wan Ismail to take over as per a decision of the party and the Pakatan Rakyat pact.

The Sultan of Selangor, Sultan Sharafuddin Idris Shah, had asked Abdul Khalid to continue serving as the menteri besar pending the appointment of his successor.

Abdul Khalid was reported as saying yesterday he was informed that the three partner parties of Pakatan Rakyat - PKR, PAS and DAP - had submitted the names of their candidates for the post of menteri besar to the sultan as the palace had ordered.
