PAS Central today decided that it will maintain its decision not to stake a claim on the Selangor Menteri Besar position, said its secretary-general Datuk Mustafa Ali.

He said PAS had decided to leave the matter of candidate and the appointment of new Selangor MB to the prerogative of the Sultan of Selangor.

“PAS will maintain its decision made before this that the party will not stake a claim on the Selangor MB post.

“PAS is of the agreement that PKR should fill the Selangor MB post,” he said during a press conference after the monthly PAS Central Committee meeting at its headquarters on Jalan Raja Laut.

Mustafa said the issue of the Selangor MB candidate also did not arise among PAS state assemblymen.

“The candidate’s name is not an issue. The Sultan had only asked for suggestions,” he said briefly.

Mustafa also stressed that party president Datuk Seri Abdul Hadi Awang has also agreed to the decision made by the PAS Central Committee today.

The PAS Central Committee meeting today was chaired by PAS deputy president Mohamad Sabu and went on for about five hours, from 10am to 3pm.

On another matter, Mustafa said PKR Kelantan had agreed to hand over the Pengkalan Kubur state seat to PAS.

He said the decision was made following talks between PKR Kelantan and PAS Kelantan.
