PAS secretary-general Datuk Takiyudin Hassan said the party upholds its earlier decision not to join the new Opposition coalition Pakatan Harapan.

"We don't want to dwell much on the matter as the coalition has just been established," he told reporters after attending the PAS Dewan Harian meeting at the Kelantan menteri besar's official residence here, Tuesday night.

Parti Keadilan Rakyat (PKR), DAP and the yet to be registered Parti Amanah Negara (Amanah) on Tuesday agreed to form a new coalition called Pakatan Harapan.

Takiyudin however said that PAS has retained its political cooperation with PKR as it was decided at the party's annual congress in June.

"The PAS Ulama Council clearly wanted to retain the political cooperation with PKR. We also confirmed that political ties with DAP had been severed."

Asked about ties betwen PAS state assemblymen and their DAP counterparts in the State Executive Council (EXCO), he said they were only as part of the Selangor state government.

"We cooperate on issues involving matters in the interests of the people and the state," said Takiyuddin, who is also the Member of Parliament for Kota Baharu.
