UMNO President, Datuk Seri Ahmad Zahid Hamidi has left it entirely to the Sabah State Assemblymen (ADUN) to determine the candidate for chief minister.

Through a virtual press conference posted on his Facebook tonight, the Bagan Datuk Member of Parliament has asked the Gabungan Rakyat Sabah (GRS) to hold talks on the matter.

However, he said based on the norm, candidates from the party with the most seats will be appointed chief minister.

"Let the people of Sabah determine the chief minister without any clue that shows who the person is either from Kuala Lumpur or Putrajaya," he said.

Sabah Barisan Nasional (BN) chairman Datuk Seri Bung Moktar Radin was previously reported to have said that the Sabah Chief Ministerial candidate has not been determined at this time and the matter will be discussed as soon as possible.

"We will discuss as soon as possible (about the Sabah Chief Minister candidate)," he said after announcing the GRS victory based on unofficial results at the Sabah UMNO Headquarters here, on Saturday night.

Commenting on the possibility of any issue to determine the chief ministerial candidate, Bung Moktar said the problem can arise if it is deliberately sought.
