MIC vice-president Datuk M. Saravanan urged party president Datuk Seri G. Palanivel not to continue playing a 'tug of war' but rather set the date for fresh election for all posts in the party.

He said Palanivel should have decided on the date to call for fresh party election first as ordered by the Registrar of Societies (RoS) before defending these posts.

"When there was an order (for fresh election), he (Palanivel) should have immediately set the date, conduct the polls and then appoint all the committees that he wants.

"There is no need to go all over the country, set the date first. This is not a domestic matter. This is party matters. If you need to defend your post, set the date first," he told reporters after witnessing the FA Cup tournament between Sungai Ara FC and MISC-MIFA, at Stadium Bandaraya here on Friday.

MIC internal crisis began after RoS declared the election for the posts of three vice-presidents and 23 central working committee (CWC) members null and void during the MIC general assembly in November 2013.

In a letter dated Dec 5 2014, RoS ordered MIC to have a fresh election for the posts within 90 days.
