Astro Malaysia Holdings Bhd will telecast live all 64 matches of the 2014 Fifa World Cup in Brazil through 10 channels.

Its chief operating officer Henry Tan said the company would also telecast selected matches with Bahasa Malaysia commentary through Astro Arena.

"Out of 10 channels, five are in standard definition while the rest will be in high definition," he told reporters after unveiling Astro as the official host broadcaster in Malaysia for the prestigious tournament, here, today.

Tan said for the first time, all the matches would also be available on laptops, tablets and smartphones through the Astro-On-The-Go service.

"This service will be available free for our sports pack customers while for our non-sports subscribers, we're still looking at the suitable prices," he said.

Tan also said that its non-sports pack subscribers and NJOI customers could choose to purchase a special pass to watch all the matches.

"Right now, we still have not decided yet on the price for the pass," he said.

Meanwhile, head of Astro's Sports Business Segment, Lee Choong Kay said Astro customers could download the Stadium Astro World Cup App which would provide all information related to the matches such as highlights, statistics of games and so on.

"We will make the announcement on the availability of the app which can be downloaded through the App Store or Google Market," he said.
