The Malaysian National Cycling Federation's leadership must go if there is no resolution on the issue of its financial audit, said Youth and Sports Minister Khairy Jamaluddin.

He said MNCF whose registration was suspended a month from Oct 24, must hold an annual general meeting and polls to elect a new leadership line up if a solution is not in sight.

"They have to submit an appeal. Suspension is under the jurisdiction of the Sports Comissioner while the minister has the power to hear the appeal," he told reporters after appearing as a guest speaker at the Leadership Series organised by the Retirement Fund Incorporated (Incorporated) (KWAP) at the Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre here, today.

The governing body for cycling sports in the country was handed the suspension after an audit by the ministry's Internal Audit Unit found irregularities in its financial management.

Meanwhile, MNCF deputy president Datuk Naim Mohamad said its executive committee would be meeting this week to come up with a reply to the Sports Commissioner's queries on its affairs.
