Malaysian squash queen Datuk Nicol David suffered another defeat at the semifinal stage to Egypt's Nour El Sherbini in the 2016 British Open held at the Airco Arena in Hull, England on Saturday.

The semifinals defeat was the second time for the world number two, who is eyeing was eyeing her sixth British Open title, to the 20-year-old Nour and world number five after the Tournament of Champions on Jan 13.

The Penangite emerged victorious in 2005, 2006, 2008, 2012 and 2014.

For record, in the 2016 season, Nicol also suffered a defeat to Nour during the quarterfinals of the Windy City Open on Feb 29.

Nour, the 2009 Under-19 World Junior Squash champion, started off the semi-final clash strongly to win the first set 11-6 but Nicol fought back to level the score at 1-1 by winning the second set 11-2.

The third set was very close and at one time they were tied 5-5 but Nour was in her element and managed to control the game well to win it 11-9.

She continued her strong performance and emerged victorious in the 43-minute match with a 11-6 score to book her first British Open final berth.
