The second Kuala Lumpur Fashion Weekend kicked off with an array of bursting colours and gorgeous silhouettes at the National Visual Arts Gallery on Wednesday.

The five-day fashion extravaganza is organised by Tourism Malaysia and Tradisi Busana PR in conjunction with the 1Malaysia Year-End Sale 2014, aimed to furnish shoppers with a first-hand look and information for directional trends for hair, make-up and fashion from the current international collections.

The KL Fashion Weekend also sees the collaboration of British renowned fashion designer, Dame Zandra Rhodes with Karyaneka. Rhodes created a new wave and buzz in the world of fashion during the early 1970s with her quirky and eccentric twist to fabric and textile design including garment construction and has been going strong till today.

This will be Rhodes’ second visit and she will showcase her couture collection at the Kuala Lumpur Alta Moda Spring/summer 2015 which forms the couturier and leading fashion designer segment of KLFW AW14/15. The couture collection catwalk presentation will also unveil the capsule collection created by Rhodes in collaboration with Karyaneka.

Apart from providing a platform for brand exposure and creating an important revenue stream for the local retail industry, KL Fashion Weekend hopes to attract new luxury and lifestyle brands to Malaysia and make the country a retail distribution hub within the region.

The KL Fashion Weekend 2014 also pays homage to our local heritage - the National Visual Arts Gallery.
