Prime Minister Tan Sri Muhyiddin Yassin has announced that almost all economic activities will be allowed to operate in a controlled and cautious manner ahead of the implementation of the Conditional Movement Control (PKPB) Order beginning May 4.

He said the authorization was subject to the terms of the standard operating procedure (SOP) set by the authorities.

"I say almost all because there are still some categories of industry and business that are not allowed to operate.

“This is a business or activity that involves public gatherings and body contact where social distancing is difficult to control.

"These include cinemas, karaoke centres, reflexology centres, entertainment centres, night clubs, theme parks, Ramadan bazaars, Aidilfitri bazaars, sales carnivals and all forms of conferences and exhibitions," he said in the Prime Minister's Special Message on Labour Day here today.

Elaborating on this, the Prime Minister said sports activities involving crowds, body contact and other risks of infection were not allowed so far.

It includes football, rugby, swimming and all indoor and stadium events. However, outdoor sports activities that do not involve body contact and mass assembly are allowed.

“So, you can play badminton or tennis outside with no spectators.

"Jogging, biking, golfing and running in small groups of no more than 10 are also allowed provided you practise social restraint and avoid body contact," he said.
