Malaysia condemns the brutal and senseless attack by knife-wielding assailants at a railway station in Kunming, the capital city of southern China's Yunnan province last Saturday.

The bloody incident left 29 civilians dead and 130 injured.

Foreign Minister Datuk Seri Anifah Aman in a statement in Kuala Lumpur, Monday, said the Malaysian Government extended its deepest condolences and sympathy to the Chinese Government, and families and next-of-kin of the victims of the attack.

"The Malaysian Government remains committed to work closely with the Government of the People's Republic of China and the international community in eliminating acts of terrorism from endangering innocent lives in the region and around the world," he said.

In the incident on Saturday night, 10 men armed with long knives stormed the railway station in the southwest Chinese city of Kunming and attacked the civilians, state news agency Xinhua reported.
