Madonna's 'Rebel Heart Tour' at the Singapore National Stadium last night brought almost 30,000 of her fans together from across the globe.

The show began with the 58-year-old 'Queen of Pop' being lowered onto the stage in a cage, in all her grandeur.

"Singapore, are you ready?!" she called out several times, ensued by screams from the crowd.

The iconic singer opened her show with B**** I'm Madonna. Some of her more controversial songs such as Holy Water, Iconic and Devils Pray were notably missing from the set list.

Last week, Madonna, who could largely attribute her fame and success to the myriad of controversies synonym with her name, was said to have 'disrespected' the Filipinos when she donned the country's national flag as part of her costume for her concert in Manila.

Her actions during the Feb 24 concert had caused her to face a possible ban from the Philippines.

However, if the Philippines had considered her vulgar, her Singapore show didn't see any of it during the two-hour gig.

Despite the concert being rated for 18 and above only, none of her actions or words were considered sensitive to the people of Lion City.

In fact, Madonna's spontaneous actions and wit seemed to bring her fans closer to her throughout the night.

"Madonna was chosen (to perform) because she is a class A international act. We, as the organiser, will not settle for anything less. There will be more such acts that we will bring in in the future," said James Lee, a spokesman for the Taiwan-based KingLun International Group.

According to Lee, the cost of last night's concert came up to a staggering US$14 million (around RM58 million).

It seemed like a substantial amount of the expenses were spent on the LED visual display and play of stage lights, which were among the winning factors for the show's success.

Not one to disappoint her fans, Madonna also performed some of her all-time classics including Material Girl, La Isla Bonita, Like A Virgin, Deeper and Deeper and Crazy For You – evergreen material which were given a breath of new life with more modern and trendy musical arrangements.

Accompanying the superstar throughout the show were more than 20 backup dancers, as well as a Singaporean in a special segment during the song Unapologetic B****.

After Singapore, the Rebel Heart Tour will take her to Sydney, Melbourne and Perth in Australia.
