The company was referring to a fake Wikipedia entry as well as fake information circulating on social media regarding the setting up and operations of a so-called "1MDB Airlines Berhad".
"We confirm that there is no such company owned or operated by 1MDB," it said in the statement.
1MDB has publicly confirmed since February 2015 that it will not enter into any new investments or new businesses and is focused solely on implementation of its rationalisation plan.
"We request members of the public to ignore this fake information and to not be influenced by any third party claiming to act on behalf of 1MDB in relation to this matter," it added.
A quick search on Wikipedia for "1MDB Airlines" showed that the page was recently deleted within the last 24 hours.
